The story behind
the coffee

Angela Sevilla started Finca Buena Vista with her husband in 2004 and managed it together until he passed away in 2012. Since then, she and her four children (2 boys and 2 girls) have managed all farm activities, keeping it a family business.

The farm is in La Fundadora, a small community near the capital city of the Jinotega region in Northern Nicaragua. The farm started with 2 hectares of land and has since grown to 5.3ha, producing 175 bags of coffee per year. They grow Catuai and Caturra and have been working within the LIFT program since it started 4 years ago.

In 2019, with the support of Mercon CISA (our sibling company in Nicaragua), she built a new wastewater treatment plant to improve the sustainability of her processing operation. This is different than any system being used by other producers in her area, so Finca Buena Vista has become a “model farm” for many LIFT training sessions. This attention to quality and process improvement is what makes our LIFT producers so special, and why we are excited to share their coffees.

Angela Sevilla is the first of what we hope to be many microlots featuring woman owned and managed farms. We are excited that such a wonderful coffee is our introduction to you for this project.
