The story behind the coffee

Marjorie Pereira, from Três Corações City, is the manager of the Ipê Farm in the South of Minas. Sitting at 1000 meters above sea level, the farm cultivates two distinct coffee varieties, Mundo Novo and Arara. Manual harvesting was used to pick only the ripest cherries and they were pulped, dried on patios, and slowly dried in a rotary dryer.

The Ipê Farm was a refuge for Marjorie, who was a retired dentist, to come to terms with her great loss: the passing of her husband, who had long been managing the coffee production. Although she was overwhelmed by the obstacles in her path, with her family's help she persevered.

Today, Marjorie and her children Janaína and Matheus oversee two coffee shops in the family. Visiting Ipê Farm is a chance to learn about the entire coffee process from cultivation to fermentation to roasting, ultimately, finding its way into the hands of the roaster.
