The story behind the coffee
Valle Verde is a LIFT cluster of 121 small producers in the San Antonio Huista municipality of Huehuetenango, in the far West of Guatemala along the Mexican border. High in the remote mountains of the area, Huehuetenango is a highly sought-after region known for exceptional and unique coffees.
Huehuetenango has coffee growing altitudes up to 2,100 meters above sea level, moderate temperatures, consistent rainfall, and volcanic soil, creating ideal conditions for the complex and interesting coffees we expect from the region. Coffee is harvest between January and April and usually arrives in the US around the beginning of July.
All the coffee in this lot comes from members of the LIFT program, which is a three-year sustainability program designed to increase crop yield and coffee quality at the producer level. As a member of LIFT, this group of coffee growers has been recognized for their dedication to the program, achieving outstanding increases in coffee quality, yield and good agronomic practices.
