The story behind the coffee
This regional coffee type comes from a group of producers we work with throughout the Matagalpa and Jinotega regions of Northern Nicaragua at altitudes of 1,175 – 1,400 meters above sea level. Farmers in this area grow a combination of Caturra, Catuai, Marseillesa, and Catimor on small farms of 2-10 hectares.
This coffee comes from several of our LIFT clusters. LIFT is a coffee quality improvement and sustainability program designed to improve quality and production over a three-year period. Therefore, our producers pay special attention to the health of their plants and to ripeness during harvest to ensure the highest quality coffee possible.

Mercon Specialty specially selected a blend to highlight the character of Nicaragua, with a crisp and clean acidity, heavy body and a lingering sweet aertaste. We believe this is a perfect complement to any blend in need of body and acidity.
